TOOGOOLAWAH positively throbbed to the beat of campdraft action from March 6-8 with seasoned performers showing their class amid a jam-packed weekend of big events.
Among the winners on Friday in the HLE Smith & Co Transport Maiden A draft under the watchful eye of local judge Lyle Facer, was an excited Kay Radke riding Sparkles, who topped the points on 89. Encouragement awards went to Emma Dennehy of Esk and Jackson Ball of Kilcoy.
In the Toogoolawah Pharmacy Maiden B draft with Brian Elliott from Kooralgin officiating, Joe Sheppard from Peak Crossing riding Mascato was the winner with an 89. Last on the program for Friday was the Seymour's Toyota Restricted Open judged by local Peter Little, who assessed an awesome display of campdrafting that had spectators glued to their seats until the thrilling end, which saw Peter Lamont from Gin Gin riding Cherry Oak claim the top points after a run-off.
The perfect weather continued on Saturday with the Len Little Memorial & Shepherdson & Boyd Medallion Open draft judged by Lloyd Brown from Mallanganee which was won by Mark Buttsworth riding his roan stallion One Stylish Pepto.
Next on the program was the Gordon Gloag Memorial Novice Draft with 406 competitors competing. Ben Hall from Muttaburra made his long trip from home worthwhile claiming top spot with 173 points riding his Rookie/Superquest horse Bushranger.
Sunday saw the running of the Diggaden Stock Horses Junior Draft won by John Schumann riding Sheedy's Indiana and the McKee & Eggleston Juvenile Draft won by Dean Radke on Sparkles.
