EMERALD Agriculture College teacher Allen Wallon turned in a classy act at the annual Monto Silverbuckle Challenges and Draft last weekend, joining Dandilla Collin to claim the Trevor Scott Saddles Junior Challenge, ahead of Jon Templeton and Scott Schoo.
Competitors travelled from all over Queensland and interstate to compete for the prize pool worth $19,500, paying dividends for the small organising committee's decision to increase prizemoney and trophies to attract more nominations.
The event is one of four major challenges running as part of the Australian Stockmans Challenge Association Under 5 and Rookie series.
After fierce competition in the women's events, Felicity Forsyth and Pagent Queen won the Monto Auto and Towing Rookie challenge, with Jordyn Bently, Shannon Bell and local competitor Anita Glasgow following close behind in the placings.
Kerri Thompson won the One Time Player Open draft and Tanya White won the Monto Vet Services Novice draft.
The Tecoma Open Challenge was won by Jon Templeton and the gallant stallion Marnie's Ace.
Abe Graham rode like a champion to win the Treadstone Training Juvenile Challenge and Jaiden Hill took out the under 13s.
