Dillon Fletcher
Age: 19
Home town: Camooweal, QLD
LIKE many station managers' children, some of Dillon Fletcher's earliest memories involve following his father around the cattle yards.
It was this upbringing, travelling throughout Queensland and the Northern Territory as his family managed different beef properties, which sparked Mr Fletcher's thirst to lead a similar life of his own.
"[My father] was sort of my mentor," Mr Fletcher said.
"He has taught me everything I know at the moment. I'm very grateful that he has taught me his ways [of working]."
The gentle-natured 19-year-old decided to spread his wings at the end of last year when his older sister heard of a job going at Manbulloo.
She had previously worked on the property and Mr Fletcher would visit her on school holidays.
Though he has grown up on cattle properties, Mr Fletcher said the opportunity was open to anyone of any experience level.
"A lot of green people come up and they learn it and they sort of catch on to it, and they go on to be head stockman or managers.
"It just depends if they really want to get into it.
"I think everybody's got to come up here - everybody's got to try it once."
