A GLAMOROUS ball held in Hughenden has given drought stricken visitors a much needed boost.
About 250 people from as far afield as Longreach, Townsville, Mt Isa and surrounds made the trek to Hugenden for the Town and Country Club’s Great Gatsby Ball.
Still buzzing after the glamorous evening, guests are already anticipating the next event.
Proceeds from the night will assist Town and Country Club to support local community, in particular a scholarship bursary set up in honour of retired doctor Ian Cormack.
As doors opened on the night men were looking dapper in their suits and tuxedos and ladies looked the part in feathers, furs, and sparkles.
After a tough contest, best dressed couple went to Donna and Rob Atkinson and best dressed in theme Bbelle and beau were Samantha Searle and Bruce Collyer.
Pictured with the Vintage Hupsmobile all the way from Mt Isa are Dean and Stephanie Dank, Tom and Andrea Duddy and Steve Anderson.
The band, Mothers Second Choice, kept everyone dancing all night and Jim and Laurel Ruttley brought out their vintage 1920’s Hupsmobile car form Mt Isa to join the fun.
Event organisers Pauline Muston, Sandra Campbell, Andrea Duddy, Tammy McClymont and the rest of the Hughenden Town and Country Committee were thrilled with the ball, but for them, the most rewarding part of the ball was the chance to give local farmers a chance to let their hair down.
