THE Dawson Valley Drovers Rugby Union Club held their Ladies Day in Moura on Saturday, and despite the damp conditions, an impressive number of ladies pulled out their best frocks to watch the Drovers A grade side defeat Blackwater 32-0.
In the reserve grade competition, the Drovers had a draw with Mount Morgan. Drovers A grade coach Ashley Kirk said the club had found some good form in recent weeks.
"We're starting to turn out some consistent performances, and the team is really coming together," Mr Kirk said.
"We won our last game 51 nil, so we're very happy with our defence at the moment."
Mr Kirk said this was the second year the club had hosted a Ladies Day, which looks set to appear as a must on the social calendar.
"Sophie Kerin and Liz Smith have done a fantastic job organising this day, which was extremely well supported given the testing weather conditions," Mr Kirk said.
"Everyone really made the effort to dress up, and it means a lot as a club to have the support of our friends, family, and the community."
Sisters Helen, Alex and Anna Hicks, Moura, were looking gorgeous for Saturday's event. Click on the image above to see a gallery from the event.
Elders Central Queensland Hub manager Adrian Reck judged the best dressed competition on the day, awarding it to Claire Nobbs from Alton Downs. Sam Morgan form Rockhampton took out the best hat or fascinator category.
"We would also like to thank all our sponsors for their ongoing support, and Suncorp Bank for being a major sponsor of the Ladies Day. The generosity of all the businesses is greatly appreciated by the club and its members," Mr Kirk said.
The Dawson Valley Drovers are now looking forward to hosting the Old Boys home game on July 19. It will feature a 'golden oldies' match, and club members promise it will be country rugby at its best.
