THE 2562-hectare dress circle Taroom/Wandoan brigalow property Yeovil has sold after being listed for sale at $6 million.
The buyer is a local grazing family, headed by Garth Christiansen, Campo Santo, Taroom.
The property had been listed for sale with Joe Keppel from Landmark Harcourts, Wandoan. The sale is one of a number of listed properties that have sold in recent weeks, suggesting renewed confidence in the rural property market.
Yeovil is described as 2562ha (6331 acres) of undulating developed brigalow, belah, bauhinia and softwood scrub country with areas of creek flats along Horse and Sandy Creeks.
Originally part of the Rochdale aggregation taken up by district pioneer Henry Jerrard in the late 1880s, the property was held by the Jerrard family until 1967 when it was sold to Roy Staines and family.
The Staines family undertook widespread improvements including scrub clearing, establishing improved pasture, extensive fencing and water improvements.
Since 1982 the property has been owned by Sally Philp (nee Staines). With her family located in Sydney and involved in other interests, Mrs Philp chose to recently re-list the property after previously offering the property for auction to take advantage of increased interest in the property market following a number of successful sales in the region.
