ONE of the first-crop heifers by French import D’Angely topped the Charnelle Charolais fifth annual Invitation Female Sale, held at the Toowoomba Showgrounds on Saturday at $5000.
The full French heifer, Charnelle Desire 13, was offered by hosts Graham and Katrina Blanch, Charnelle Charolais, Upper Tenthill via Gatton, and was bought by young Victorian stud master Ebony Boyd who was represented by her local agent Brock Fletcher, Charles L King and Company, Cohuna, Victoria. The 17-month-old was safely in-calf to Charnelle Jumbo (P) (RF).
Miss Boyd has just registered her Koorabael stud which she conducts with her parents Brett and Cindy Boyd of Lake Charm, which is situated in the Torrumbarry irrigation district on the Murray River.
She also bought another pair of quality, feminine heifers at $2500 each.
Three other heifers attracted the $3500 second best money, the first Charnelle Festoon, a mature cow by Palgrove Murdock (RF) with heifer calf at foot by D’Angely and carrying a female foetus by Thin Red Line, which sold to Bob Jamieson Agencies, Inverell, New South Wales, on the account of Ross Carr.
The second at $3500 was Charnelle Panache 2, a young red factor cow by Advance XR8 with heifer calf at side by D’Angely and carrying a Winn Mans Lanza female foetus was bought by the Calmview Charolais stud, Fernleigh, NSW.
The other $3500 heifer, Riverview Demi, also made similar money and was bought by Ashley and Rick Casten, Cheyenne Charolais, Nobby.
Guest vendor, Judith Turner, Jay Tees Charolais, Carrara sold three quality bulls at $2500 each with David Mawhinney, Almavale Cattle Company, Lake View, Tansey, buying a pair of youngsters by Pinay for a $5000 outlay.
The balance of the offering included semen, embryos and sundry AI gear grossed $20,685 to average $83.40 per lot with several A grade embryos going to the Ellis family, Kooyong Charolais, Pinjarra, Western Australia.
Glen Waldron, Elite Charolais, Meandarra, paid $1800 for three Fernvale Clifton/Harvie Redemption (P) (RF) embryos.
