WHEN the first bull sold for $10,000, everyone knew it was going to be a good sale – but no one was expecting the $36,000 top at the National Braford Bull Sale at Gracemere today.
While talk before the sale was of doom and gloom, buyers and vendors had a spring in their step afterwards, with a 96 per cent clearance from 104 bulls and an average of $5519.
Just shy of three-years-old, Little Valley Robo was the subject of a frenzied bidding that saw him go under the hammer to Varykino Brafords, Leville, NSW.
And two bulls later, Little Valley Barraccota sold for $20,000 to Cargara Station, Charleville.
Early into the auction, $20,000 had already been reached when Canadian genetics company Semex Canada bought Caryinya Onslow.
But the sale hadn't seen the last of the high numbers. At the end, Carinya Officer went under the hammer for $24,000 to Wilson Stud, Redbank, Mitchell.
The sale finished the way it started, with another bull going for $10,000.
