AS the final preparations to this year’s Royal Queensland Show take place at the RNA Showgrounds, Queensland Country Life’s regional staff are wiping the dust off their boots and packing their bags to come to town, to join their city based colleagues to bring the latest show coverage to our readers.
Queensland Country Life’s coverage of what is fondly referred to as the Ekka, is a traditional within itself, as many of our staff are seasoned show reporters.
Heading up the team will be chief-of-staff and Roma-based journalist, Penelope Arthur who will bring you all the news from the Droughtmaster, Red Poll, and Piedmontese stud judging, just to name a few.
Blackall-based and very well travelled scribe, Sally Cripps will be on hand to keep readers up-to-date with what is happening in the Santa Gertudis and Brangus judging.
Veteran reporter, clocking up some 35 years of RNA coverage will be Helen Walker who will cover the Brahmans, Braford, and Hereford breeds.
Other familiar faces who need no introduction to our readers will be senior photographer Rod Green, along with Sarah Coulton, both whose pictures will capture the fun and excitement of the winning exhibitors, and show patrons soaking up the atmosphere.
Working behind the video lens will be Kate Stark, who will bring up to minute footage and file for online as soon as the winners are sashed.
Other familiar faces will include Andrea Schulz, Liz Wells and Kevin Elsley.
New faces to the team will be Town and Country editor Andrea Crothers and Livestock editor Inga Stunzner.
Once the stud beef judging concludes, the Ringer, who pens his copy under the byline of Ashley Walmsley, will ride into town and bring readers the latest in the dairy judging.
