THE Brahman and Charolais breeds have claimed the seedstock industry’s biggest prizes after winning the interbreed champion bull and interbreed champion female broad ribbons in the Landmark Stud Cattle Championship at Beef 2015 this afternoon.
Rising three-year-old sire, Raglan Victory, claimed interbreed bull honours ahead of the Simmental grand champion, Meldon Park Hugo.
It was an emotional win for Victory’s exhibitors, Andrew and Roxanne Olive, Raglan Brahmans, with Mrs Olive claiming it was their “best Beef ever”.
It was the third time the Olive family have won an interbreed victory at Beef Australia.
Sired by Yenda Dynamic, a son of JHD Navasota, from Raglan Miss Kaycee, Victory was the 2014 reserve senior champion Brahman bull at the Royal Queensland Show.
Runner-up, Meldon Park Hugo, was exhibited by the Skene family, Meldon Park Simmental Stud, Cecil Plains.
Standing in third position was Raff Hercules, exhibited by the Raff family, Raff Angus, Drillham.
A son of the highly decorated Raff Empire, Hercules was on his first showing.
Coming in fourth position was the Brangus grand champion, Duarran Havelock, exhibited by Ian and Anne Galloway, Galloway Cattle Co, Roma.
The Red Angus grand champion bull, Black Diamond Red Jaguar, exhibited by Christie and Andrew Kennedy, Black Diamond Red Angus, Cowra, NSW, placed fifth.

Taking the interbreed champion female accolade was Crathes Estella 32, owned by Meandarra Charolais breeders, Glen Waldron and Kim Groner, Elite Charolais.
Crathes Estella 32 clinched the broad ribbon ahead of the Brahman grand champion female, Crinum Miss Ruby Red, exhibited by Terry Randall, Crinum Brahmans, Teri, who placed second.
Glen Waldron and his partner Kim Groner are no strangers to the winners circle having won the interbreed pair at the Brisbane Royal Show in 2014.
“It’s absolutely unreal – a bigger thrill than last year’s Brisbane Royal interbreed championship win,” an excited Mr Waldron said.
“I have been exhibiting here since 2006 and it’s been our best Beef ever.”
Earlier this year, Crathes Estella 32 was named the Sydney Royal Show grand champion female. She was also sashed reserve junior champion female at the 2014 Brisbane Royal Show.
The Angus grand champion female, Bulliac Ester, exhibited by the Hill family, Miles, was placed third by the judges while the Limousin grand champion female, Graneta Temptress H27, exhibited by the Gaffney family, placed fourth.
Gelbvieh breeders celebrated as their grand champion female, Sunshine Gem, Cooroy Cattle Company, rounded out the top five.
The winners were selected by a panel of 16 judges on a judging points system.
