A MASSIVE fire has destroyed Beaudesert farm machinery business Dover and Sons.
The fire broke out at the Telemon Street business just before 2pm on Wednesday and quickly engulfed the iconic building, with toxic black smoke filling the sky above Beaudesert.
Twenty-eight staff were at work when the fire broke out, but all evacuated safely and no-one was injured in the blaze.
The fire is thought to have started in the workshop area of the building, which was built in 1954.
Fire crews from Beaudesert, Jimboomba, Kooralbyn and Beenleigh battled the blaze, with the business well-alight by the time emergency crews arrived.
Traffic on the Mt Lindesay Highway was also disrupted.
Salesman Peter Field was working in a front office of the building when the fire broke out.
“It got real big, real quick. Everyone just got out as quickly as they could,” he said.
“Luckily nobody got hurt.”
Several firefighters had to be treated for heat exhaustion and dehydration at the scene.
A clearly shocked Murray Dover, owner of Dover and Sons, told the Beaudesert Times while he had lost everything in the fire, he would rebuild.
“We lost everything, but everyone got out okay, that’s the main thing,” he said.
“I just hope the community sticks by us, we will rebuild and come back. We just need patience, but already the community has reached out to us.
“We’ll be okay."
Mr Dover said the business was fully insured and rebuilding efforts would start as soon as possible.
