CLARE Murray will take on one of northern ag's leading roles when she takes the reins of the Queensland Farmers' Federation (QFF) on May 27.
QFF president Joanne Grainger said Ms Murray was "a highly motivated and passionate advocate", with a strong background.
"I look forward to working with her, continuing to build on QFF's work as the collective voice for intensive agricultural industries in Queensland," she said.
"Clare is an exceptional leader, who understands the challenges facing advocacy organisations in meeting the needs of members in a dynamic political and economic climate."
Ms Murray comes to the role with seven years experience as the CEO of the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland (BPEQ), and a strong business development and stakeholder management background, and was thrilled by the new challenges of the QFF role.
"We are in the midst of a critical time, when policy makers need to understand more than ever the challenges being faced by the industry," she said.
Ms Murray has a long family association to the agriculture industry, with her farming pedigree stretching back to the 1850s. Her extended family has reached their sixth generation on the land, including her brother who is currently managing a diary farm in Gippsland, Victoria.
Ms Murray will replace Dan Galligan, who has been appointed CEO of QFF member organisation Canegrowers, after six years of leadership.
