FIVE people will contest pre-selection to be the LNP candidate for the seat of Maranoa at the next federal election.
The pre-selection follows the decision of long-serving MP, Bruce Scott to retire.
Announced on Friday, the candidates are Warwick bank manager, David Littleproud, Roma based Maranoa Councillor, Cameron O’Neil, regional banking manager, Lachlan Douglas, Blackall grazier, Alison Krieg and Charleville grazier, Rick Gurnett.
A statement from the LNP said that, given the size of the Maranoa electorate, LNP members would vote via a postal plebiscite to choose the new LNP candidate.
The ballot closes on October 22 and votes will be counted to determine the candidate on October 23.
As pre-selections are a matter for LNP members, neither the candidates nor the Party are able to make any public comment until the process has concluded.
