THREE passionate young people were named the next generation of cattle industry leaders at the NTCA conference.
The NTCA launched its inaugural NTCA Young Leadership Program last year aiming to get the next generation involved with providing strong leadership and furthering their knowledge to make a contribution to the pastoral industry.
NTCA chief executive officer Tracey Hayes said the Young Leadership Program was really a succession plan for the beef industry.
“Now into its second year, these wonderful, bright, articulate people are our future leaders,” she said.
Those named include 26 year-old, Joella Klien, Orange Creek Station, Alice Springs.
Joella lives on her family property 95km south of Alice Springs where they run 5000 cattle selling into both the live cattle export trade and the southern markets.
She said participating in the Young Leadership Program would allow her to gain more knowledge of the NTCA.
“I certainly will gain a greater knowledge of the cattle industry, and it is a good opportunity to network among other people,” Jodie said.
Also chosen was Amanda Baglot, who is assistant to the operations manager for the AA Company’s Eva Downs, Tennant Creek.
Canadian-born Amanda, aged 29, travelled to Australia eight years ago, and has been working for the AA Company for the past four years.
“I am really excited and looking forward to more involvement with the NTCA,” Amanda said.
Meanwhile Jack Wilcox has worked for the past four years on Beetaloo Station near Elliott.
