THE Beef Australia seminars program is literally a mind-field of information available to visitors during Beef Week.
The seminars will be held in the James Lawrence Pavilion and Hegvold Stadium, and run from Tuesday, May 5, to Friday, May 8.
Irrespective of whether you want to know how to scale up your beef business, or find out about global markets and the evolution of Australian beef systems, or delivering value and driving change with beef levies, there will be plenty of inspiration to take home from some of the best minds both nationally and internationally.
On Tuesday, May 5, visitors will have a choice of nine seminars, including the Successful Infusion of Angus Genetics in the North, hosted by Angus Australia. This conference has a key line-up of speakers including Consolidated Pastoral Company CEO Troy Setter, veterinarian and artificial breeding expert Ced Wise, and stud breeder Justin Boshammer, Sandon Glenoch, Chinchilla.
Six seminars will be held on Wednesday, May 6, including Tailoring Livestock Production to Maximise Returns from the Live Export Market, hosted by Wellards.
Guest speaker will be Fred Troncone, CEO of Wellards Rural Exports, who directs the strategic development and operational performance of Wellards' $400 million shipping and trading business.
Another interesting seminar will be Unlocking Opportunities in Australian Agriculture, where speakers will present on the shift in agricultural investment, and how opportunities for adaptable investment structures such as co-investment can bring renewed opportunities to the beef industry from global capital pools.
On Thursday, May 7, there is another host of nine individual seminars. One that is sure to attract interest is How the CSIRO has Refocused its Animal Research for Bigger Impact. The CSIRO has undergone a major restructure, and is building stronger and more effective linkages with other providers.
Subjects to be covered include beef research, the latest on live cattle export, information technology and herd management, plus the Digital Homestead project.
The seminars will wind down on Friday, May 8, with the all-important next generation forum, and a look at human resources and making people our greatest asset.
