OVERALL quality was poor today at the first Dalby sale of 2014, where 2224 head of cattle was yarded.
Grant, Daniel and Long managing director Peter Daniel said trade and export cattle were restricted in competition.
“A lot of cattle here are under sufferance due the extreme weather pressure of the Christmas break with no rain anywhere,” he said.
“We were hoping to come back and start the year on a better note but hopefully that is head of us soon.
“Good grain assisted bullocks made just under 200c/kg but generally bullocks made 170c-185c.”
Meat and Livestock Australia’s National Livestock Reporting Service reported mixed quality young cattle dominated the selling pens and the fair selection of cows was comprised of mainly lightweight poor condition classes.
