AFTER a massive effort restoring the Rockhampton and Capricorn Coast region's power in the wake of Tropical Cyclone Marcia, Ergon Energy is leading the charge and focusing its attention on the community by again supporting the Beef Australia 2015 volunteer program.
Ergon is encouraging local community members to help out with tasks such as tour guiding, general administration, data entry, international liaison, linguistics, driving, or even general handyman jobs.
"Community involvement is vital to the success of Beef Australia 2015 and volunteering offers all members of society a chance to enjoy a fulfilling and rewarding week," Beef Australia CEO Denis Cox said. "As well as the satisfaction of helping visitors to the event, it also provides volunteers with front row seats to the biggest industry event of its kind in Australia.
"We really do appreciate the time and effort given by our volunteers. They are an important part of Beef Australia and without our volunteers, many of the programmed events simply could not happen."
Ergon Energy has been a long-term supporter of the volunteer program. The company is committed to working with and supporting the local communities it operates in throughout regional Queensland.
Steve Leighton, Ergon's Rockhampton-based general manager for customer delivery, said the organisation had a proud tradition of supporting this signature event, which attracted tremendous interest locally and state and interstate and internationally.
"We all witnessed during Marcia the vital role volunteers play in the community and this is another opportunity for the community to show its true community spirit,
this time in less dire circumstances," Mr Leighton said. "The event really does put Rockhampton and central Queensland on the map and we are very proud to join with the community and play such a key role in staging this world class beef expo.
"I think it is fantastic after the devastation of Cyclone Marcia and times of adversity, we as a community can now focus on more enjoyable matters and look forward to Beef 2015."
