A HIGH-POWERED delegation of Japanese government personnel and trade officials will be in Armidale, NSW next Monday.
Headed by the Japanese Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Yoshitaka Shindo, the 11 high-ranked trade officials will visit the University of New England’s Armidale Campus and UNE’s Kirby SMART Farm facility.
The delegation is in Australia for three days for inter-governmental talks on trade, initiated by Prime Minister Tony Abbott's meetings in Japan last month.
UNE vice chancellor Annabelle Duncan said the high-profile visit to Armidale recognised UNE’s leading role in developing online technologies for application in research, teaching and industry.
The University will also showcase locally grown Wagyu beef as part of the Australian Genetics Breeding Unit at UNE with an Australian/Japanese barbecue for the visiting dignitaries at the Kirby SMART Farm.
